  • Adam Silver doesn't love the 1+1 deals signed by LeBron and Durant

One of the weirdest things about Kevin Durant’s decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors is that he’s not committed to his new club past the 2016-17 season. Durant signed a two-year deal with Golden State that includes a player option on the second season, and no one believes he’ll actually accept it. LeBron James has signed similar deals with the Cleveland Cavaliers in each of the past two offseasons, and he figures to do the same thing in upcoming weeks in advance of getting his own record-shattering contract next summer.

  • Patriots’ Handling Of Deflategate Reportedly Turned Entire NFL Against Them

To say the whole Deflategate situation hasn’t been kind to the New England Patriots would be a massive understatement. After the NFL shockingly handed Tom Brady a four-game suspension back in May 2015, the Patriots fought tooth and nail to try to get that ruling overturned and bring justice to their quarterback. That effort obviously failed, but in a recent article for SI.com, columnist Greg Bedard revealed that New England’s steadfast support of Brady did not go over well with the rest of the league. From Bedard’s column: “Even if Patriots owner Robert Kraft wanted to seek retribution and lead an ouster of (NFL commissioner Roger) Goodell… it’s not going to happen. NFL owners agreed to the rules

  • Cubs fan will donate to domestic-violence charity for each Aroldis Chapman save

The acquisition of bazooka-armed reliever Aroldis Chapman wasn’t exactly greeted with glee by Chicago Cubs fans because of the pitcher’s offseason domestic violence incident. While Cubs fans are desperate for their team to finally end its 108-year-old streak without a World Series title, some aren’t desperate enough that they feel comfortable adding a player to the roster who was accused of domestic violence before prosecutors ultimately decided not to file charges. Lifelong Cubs fan Caitlin Swieca decided to do something positive to help herself cope with the disappointment she felt in her beloved team.

  • Did NHL teams suck fun out of 3-on-3 OT? (Trending Topics)

A little more than a year ago, the NHL announced that it had officially adopted a 3-on-3 overtime as a means of juicing goal-scoring in the league and avoiding the shootout to as great an extent as possible. At the time, we had little understanding of what the NHL looked like at 3-on-3. From 2007 through the end of 2014-15, all NHL teams combined had played a grand combined total of just 87 minutes in that strength situation.

  • Here's Karl-Anthony Towns dunking on all the children

In 2005, my friends and I took great interest in a McSweeney’s article titled “A Realistic Assessment of How Many 12-Year-Olds I Could Beat Up Before They Overtook Me.” It is exactly what it sounds like — author Matt Schweiger investigates how he, a 21-year-old of fairly average size, would do in a fight against an ever-growing number of pre-teen boys. Minnesota Timberwolves center and reigning Rookie of the Year Karl-Anthony Towns is apparently trying to test his own version of this game. Honestly, they should just turn the camp into a full-on experiment to see how many kids Towns can take on.

After missing all of last season and being limited to six games over the past two, the Cruz was a full-go as the New York Giants held their first practice at training camp Friday under new coach Ben McAdoo. With the Giants indoors because of overnight rain, the workout looked more like a slow-speed organized team activity. Cruz didn't seem to care. He participated in every drill. He caught passes. He worked at recovering fumbles. The nearby Paterson product didn't show any signs of being limited either by his knee or the calf injury that plagued him last year. The next step will be doing it in practice and then games. Cruz

The NFL has decided to conditionally reinstate Miami Dolphins’ pass-rusher Dion Jordan, who was suspended for a year under the league’s substance abuse policy after submitting a diluted test sample. According to the announcement from the NFL, Jordan can join the Dolphins at training camp, allowed to participate in “meetings, conditioning work and similar activities.” He must also secure treatment in the Miami area, and after he’s done that he will be able to play in preseason games. The NFL will re-evaluate Jordan’s case at the start of the regular season, and after meeting with him will determine whether he’s been complying with the conditions of his reinstatement, he will be allowed to participate in regular-season activities.
