  • Rudy Gay: Kings aren’t handling trade rumors right way

Rudy Gay has come up again and again in trade rumors. The Kings forward doesn’t seem thrilled with that. Gay, in a Q&A with Blake Ellington of Sactown Royalty: You mentioned people are wondering if you are going to be here next season. I imagine you are like most of the guys in the league and try not to pay attention to that stuff, but do you pay attention to trade rumors and does it bother you? I mean it’s been pretty loud as of late so it’s hard not to pay attention to it. I think it just goes to, I don’t know, I think there’s always ways to do things and in this situation I don’t think it’s going about the right way. No matter what your intentions to do with your players, I would think the

  • Upset over contract status, Chiefs' Eric Berry won't report to camp

In the days leading up to the July 15 deadline for teams to sign their designated franchise players, the Kansas City Chiefs and safety Eric Berry were reportedly “miles apart” on a deal. Since Berry has not signed his franchise tag, and is therefore not under contract, he cannot be fined by the club. Berry’s recent battle with Hodgkin’s disease played a role in negotiations, with NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reporting that the Chiefs wanted Berry to pay for a disability insurance policy that would have named the team as beneficiary.

One night, a human resources employee for the Minnesota Timberwolves picked up the phone and Casson talked his way into a meeting. “To think that what started as a cold call of me begging an HR person to let me come in and prove my worth 18 years later turned into me coming back as a CEO is amazing and certainly very special to me,” Casson told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. Casson had to sell his car and some other possessions to raise the money to pay for his move from Boston to the Twin Cities, but the leap of faith has paid off.
