  • Yes, Colin Kaepernick is hurting NFL ratings

Colin Kaepernick (No. 7) and 49ers teammates take a knee during the national anthem. The steady decline in NFL television ratings has been the biggest story of the football season, and arguably the biggest sports-business story of 2016. What is clear is that interest in watching primetime NFL games has waned, but what remains unclear are the exact causes, and which causes have had the largest impact.

  • Bolivian official breaks silence about air crash in Colombia

LA PAZ, Bolivia –  A Bolivian official who signed off on the flight plan for a chartered aircraft that crashed in the Andes is breaking her silence and accusing her bosses of trying to stage a cover-up. In a public letter, Celia Castedo says she didn't have the authority to stop the doomed flight to Medellin, Colombia, that killed 71 people, including members of a Brazilian soccer team heading to the finals of the Copa Sudamericana tournament. Castedo says that a day after the crash her superiors pressured her to modify an internal report that she claims details how she warned the airline the plane didn't have enough fuel to safely make the flight. Bolivian officials say Castedo is under investigation for her responsibility in the crash.

In the end, the Mets held a lot of meetings where they talked with agents and team representatives for a variety of relief pitchers open to accepting major- and minor-league deals. In an effort to free up a roster spot, raise money and have fewer left-handed hitting outfielders, the Mets spent time talking with teams about Jay Bruce, though they reportedly saw more interest in Curtis Granderson and Michael Conforto, which is understandable. In the end, I expect the Mets will eventually trade Bruce and one of two things will happen, 1) They'll get back a big-league reliever making a decent

Let’s look back at what went down here at National Harbor this week: Bud Selig was elected to the Hall of Fame. In our view, his induction is a disgrace. As is his continued lying about what he knew and when he knew it about steroids. Aroldis Chapman signed a monster deal, though it’s questionable whether it was a good deal. The Nationals acquired Adam Eaton from the White Sox. It was definitely
