If Mike Bryant isn’t considered the prototypical sports father, he probably should be. His dedication to helping his son, Kris Bryant, develop into the reigning National League MVP on the field, and a respected member of every community he belongs to off the field, are matched by few and topped by none. A lot of the same could be said about LaVar Ball, the father of UCLA standout and future NBA lottery pick Lonzo Ball. The dedication and support measure up, but his seemingly unquenchable thirst to make headlines and share the spotlight with his son are in stark contrast to Mr. Bryant’s. In fact, it’s to the point now where even Mike Bryant felt the need to weigh in with some very wise and important advice for Mr. Ball.
Sometimes it only takes a comment or two to open up a festering issue. Especially in golf. That was the case when PGA Tour player Kelly Kraft dropped this tweet after action commenced last Wednesday at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play (in which some players who compete in Europe or Asia exclusively earned spots in the high-powered field). OK, before we get into this: Let’s clarify. Kraft isn’t criticizing the players themselves, but the Official World Golf Ranking for being skewed unfavorably toward golfers competing outside the PGA Tour. Fellow PGA Tour pro Grayson Murray, a lightning rod on Twitter, backed up Kraft’s thoughts. Again, let us be clear: Murray is being sarcastic here (he’s

Those familiar with Novak Djokovic know all about his affinity for excellence–on and off the court. As a tennis legend that's considered one of the best to ever grace the court, clay or grass, Djokovic might just be one of sports' most beautiful men to boot. He's struggled with injuries as of late, the latest at the Miami Open which caused him to retire from the tournament, but while in town, it seemed he kept himself busy house hunting. Rather than purchase a home from another celeb or splurge on a hotel residence, Novak purchased his first stateside property in one of the city's most luxurious amenities buildings. Originally from Serbia, Djokovic and his wife, Jelena, call Monaco home, where
There probably hasn’t been enough made about the Dallas Stars’ unmitigated disaster of a season, going from 109 points and a division title to 73 points in 75 games thus far. Lambert took a hard look at what the Stars could and should do on the ice this offseason, but what about behind the bench? When the local media treat the firing of a head coach as a formality, one trends to treat it as such.
The San Francisco Giants, on the other hand, now view urinating the season away as a potential positive, as new tests should help them determine if players are staying properly hydrated. On a chaotic road to the 2017 Kentucky Derby, the Florida Derby may—or may not—help to identify a favorite for the first Saturday in May. With earlier presumptive favorites missing training (Classic Empire) and injured (Mastery), and with this year’s 3-year-old crop taking turns winning prep races, this is as wide open a Kentucky Derby as we’ve seen in a while. Last year at this time, the Florida Derby featured the match-up of unbeaten horses and co-favorites Mohaymen and Nyquist in one of the most anticipated races in the early part of the year. Nyquist emerged the victor and went on to win the Kentucky Derby presented by Yum! Brands as the 2-1 favorite. This year’s renewal boasts no such superstars,

The Warriors made life uncomfortable for Kawhi Leonard and the Spurs on Wednesday. The Golden State Warriors visited the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night under much different circumstances than their last trip to the AT&T Center on March 11. In that game, the reeling Warriors opted to rest their core after a terrible run of form without the injured Kevin Durant and lost their third game in a row and fifth in seven, a genuinely concerning stretch for a squad used to such overwhelming success in Steve Kerr’s three seasons as head coach.
