Buck: 30.4% of our electricity is produced by coal. That means almost 70% is produced by natural gas, nuclear, hydro-electric plants, wind, solar and other sources. Coal is slowly being phased out as new technology is being developed and brought up to speed. Electrical production is a commercial commodity and as such the utility companies will gravitate towards the production method that is most efficient and costs less to produce, thus maximizing profits. Yes, headway is being made on alternative energy sources BUT these advances cannot be made with a simple stroke of the pen on some new law or regulation. It takes research (and research money) from private companies. They already have a profit motive to do this. Just let them do their jobs and keep the government noses out of it.
