March 8, 2014: The first day of competition at the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi saw Canada pick up medals in downhill and biathlon races, and its curling and sledge hockey teams win their opening matches against Russia and Sweden respectively. Canadian sit-skier Josh Dueck had a particularly special day, winning silver in his event in the men's downhill on the 10-year anniversary of the day of the accident that left him in a wheelchair.
