A look at the Toronto Blue Jays as they prepare for the 2013 baseball season.
Glenn: Where is the foreign aid that has came in from the US and other western countries in the past... All I see listed is loans , there gong to buy bananas and mangos from the Philippines and also 13 bilateral cooperation documents on business, infrastructure, and agriculture, among other fields ( whatever they consist of ) ??? Kevin Durant announced his departure from the Thunder to the Warriors on July 4. Russell Westbrook first publicly responded, using the loosest definition of response, several weeks later. Westbrook apparently sent Durant a subtle message July 4, using a symbol popularized on the Thunder by former teammate Kendrick Perkins (who had very interesting thoughts on the Durant-Westbrook dynamic).
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight champion Conor McGregor is not the Terminator. He can be bargained with, he can be reasoned with, and he will stop before the 145-pound division is dead. Under one condition. “Notorious” wants to exit the UFC 205 pay-per-view (PPV) main event, which takes place on Nov. 12, 2016 inside Madison Square Garden in New York City, with two championship title held above his head. Flashbulbs and wanton adulation are encouraged. McGregor talks to Sports Illustrated: "Let me see the pictures on publications with a belt on each shoulder first. Let me go onto the side of that Octagon and raise two world titles, what's never been done before, before talking
Antonio Cromartie took a knee and put his fist in the air twice during the playing of the national anthem. According to his wife, the Colts owner perceived that raised arm as his volunteering to be cut. The cornerback was waived Oct. 4, two days after his second statement during “The Star-Spangled Banner,” a time frame Terricka Cromartie doesn’t view as accidental, especially after Jim Irsay spoke out against the protests. Terricka Cromartie posted a note on Instagram on Wednesday suggesting her 32-year-old husband had been given a warning not to follow in Colin Kaepernick’s footsteps, but he did so anyway — which led to the Colts cutting ties.
The biggest loser in the American League Championship Series wasn’t the Blue Jays or the Toronto fans who watched the Cleveland Indians celebrate a trip to the World Series on their home field. Nope, the biggest loser could only be one man: Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista, who is going to have to bury his head in the sand after a week of trash-talking and complaining that is now coming back to bite him. The Indians celebrated winning the AL pennant.
Alain Vigneault confirmed today that Kevin Klein will return to the Rangers lineup tonight and will be paired with Marc Staal. (NYR) Klein and Staal have played 929 minutes together since they have been teammates and when they are on the ice at 5-on-5 the Rangers have scored 53% of the goals but only had 45.3% of the shot attempts. (Stats.HockeyAnalysis.com) Ryan McDonagh will remain paired with Nick Holden on the right side and Brady Skjei will skate with Adam Clendening. Dylan McIlrath will be a healthy scratch an Henrik Lundqvist will be in goal.
The shooting, jawing, and smiling forward recently inked a four-year, $57 million deal to return to the NBA Champion Cavaliers, he got married, and he’s been living it up everywhere in Ohio – from his dog’s birthday party in Columbus, to attending a bunch of Browns and Indians games. Smith partnered with Sprayground (which is also getting into the basketball game thanks to founder David Ben-David) to release a pack on Oct. 20 that kind of takes on the feel of his hometown of Newark in New Jersey.

In a post brainstorming trade ideas for this winter, Tigers fan and FanSided contributor Ben Rosener suggests Detroit send OF Cameron Maybin and utility-man Andrew Romine to the Mets for Juan Lagares and two prospects. Maybin, 29, hit .315 with a .383 OBP, four home runs, 14 doubles, 43 RBI and 15 stolen bases in 94 games for the Tigers in 2016. He is a career .259 hitter during roughly 3,000 plate appearances. Maybin will earn $9 million in 2017, after which he is eligible to be a free agent. Romine, 30, hit .236 with just two HR, eight stolen bases and 16 RBI, while playing every position in 2016, including pitching one inning in relief. Tigers GM Al Avila recently told local reporters that
With the offseason almost upon us, many words will be used to speculate on major moves to be made. However, as Rich Hill has proven, the marginal moves can have major impacts, too. (Alex Speier; Boston Globe) Edwin Encarnacion is out of the playoffs, but his time in October showed that he is a strong option for the Red Sox. (Evan Drellich; Boston Herald) Here are five candidates who could take over the vacant GM role. (Hayden Bird; Boston.com) Torey Lovullo is still expected to be a top candidate for the Diamondbacks managerial gig, but Mike Hazen won’t make a quick decision. (Jen McCaffrey; Masslive) Yesterday, Terry Francona advanced to yet another World Series. (Rob Bradford; WEEI) He was
The hits keep coming for Michigan State, and the latest is a big one. The Spartans announced Wednesday that senior big man Gavin Schilling suffered a non-contact knee injury during practice and that he will require surgery, knocking him out for an undetermined amount of time. "This is certainly an unfortunate setback for Gavin, as he had been practicing very well," head coach Tom Izzo said in the announcement. "He had an incredible summer and was in excellent shape as he was ready to make his senior season his best one yet." Schilling was expected to be a starter and a main contributor for a Michigan State team that needed him to be one in the frontcourt. The Spartans' forward corps has been

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The question was posed to Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers like this: "Diagnosing what's wrong with Aaron Rodgers has turned into a cottage industry. When you look at yourself, what do you see … that you would like to do better?" Rodgers boiled it down to one thing. "I think it's just accuracy," he said this week. Can that fully explain why Rodgers, a two-time NFL MVP, is off to one of the worst starts of his career? Or why it's been 11 months since his last 300-yard passing game? Or why the Packers have an unsightly 8-9 record in their last 17 games, including playoffs? To find out more about what's wrong with Rodgers, we asked a foursome of analysts who coached
There were three minutes between the final out of the game and when Adrian Gonzalez tapped the “send” button. Gonzalez marched off the field, through the bowels of Dodger Stadium, into his team’s clubhouse. “Somehow this is an out,” Gonzalez tweet said, with a picture attached of the second-inning play where he was ruled out despite his contention that his hand beat the tag.
J.R. Smith wasn’t about to let this egregious rumor spread. An hour after Jeremy Lin appeared on CBS Radio’s “Boomer & Carton” show and addressed a rumor about Smith not “accepting him as a ballplayer” because of his race, the recently signed Cavaliers guard took to Twitter to dispel any allegations he discriminated against his former Knicks teammate. As a final question in Wednesday’s interview, radio host Craig Carton asked Lin if it were true his Knicks teammates “resented” him in 2012 when he accepted a big contract to play for the Rockets. Carton suggested his identity as a “Chinese-American player” gave people, like Smith, the idea he didn’t deserve the three-year, $25 million deal he signed.
Now, right off the top, I’m putting some of the blame on WWE’s social media team, because while I noticed this during the GLOWster’s match against Alexa Bliss last night (Oct. 18), I probably wouldn’t have given it a second thought. Out of at least ten kicks, I’d say only half made any contact with Bliss, and none of them looked like they’d hurt in any way. Factor in, as the Twitter account for the wrestling-themed Punk band Pop-Up Powerbomb points out in replying to WWE Universe’s Tweet, this also makes you wonder why Alexa or anyone else wouldn’t simply take a step back to avoid even the tips of Naomi’s light-up sneakers from hitting them (Watch Speedball Mike Bailey do the same move to see how he deals with this by being close enough to connect with the backs of his opponent’s arms, then moves forward as they retreat).
Real Madrid defender Pepe is reportedly contemplating a move to Chelsea due to a wrangle over his contract negotiations at the Bernabeu. The Portuguese centre-back will consider a move to Stamford Bridge if talks over a new deal cannot be resolved, according to the Daily Mirror. This would also suit Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, who is said to be keen to add strength to his defense as captain John Terry heads to the end of his playing career.
Lynn Williams didn’t take long to make an impact in her USWNT debut. Because Lynn Williams took just 50 seconds to score her first national team goal. In a highly experimental game for head coach Jill Ellis, who fielded a three-woman back line and gave five players their debuts, the U.S. dominated but didn’t convert all of its possession and shots until Williams stepped into the fray.
1. Ohio State (6-0) It takes grit to enter an atmosphere like Camp Randall, at night, with the crowd on fire, and withstand body blows from a gifted Wisconsin team. The Buckeyes did just that, as they made one more play than the Badgers, sneaking out of Madison with a 30-23 victory. Despite a 10 point deficient going into the third quarter, Urban Meyer had his talented group focused and performing precise football on both sides of the ball. J.T. Barrett was the feature throughout for the Buckeyes, tallying 21 rushing attempts and 29 passes thrown, en route to three total touchdowns. The Ohio State Buckeyes reclaim the top spot because they possess the most impressive two wins in the Big Ten so
Arizona Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith left his team’s Tuesday 7-4 loss against the Ottawa Senators in the third period with a lower body injury. Last season Smith played just 32 games with Arizona as he dealt with a core muscle issue. Until then, he had played 62-or-more games in each full season since he joined Arizona for 2011-12. Smith had stopped 27 of 30 Senators shots on goal before exiting the game with the issue.
If he has his way, owner Mark Davis’s Oakland Raiders will soon become the Las Vegas Raiders. And, not surprisingly, Las Vegas officials would welcome him with open arms. Legislation to provide $750 million in public funding through tourist taxes (of
The pre-game hype has been all about the first meeting between Auston Matthews and Patrik Laine, the first and second overall picks in the 2016 draft, respectively. But for the Winnipeg Jets, tonight’s home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs should be about figuring things out, before the season starts veering off the rails. The Jets have not been very good out of the gate. They’re 1-2-0 after three games, and their only win required a third-period comeback from 4-1 down to Carolina. At five on five, they have not controlled the puck enough in the attacking zone, and their possession stats reflect as much. On Monday, the Jets dropped a 4-1 decision to Boston. They outshot the Bruins, 35-25,
Back in August, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady reportedly cut his hand with scissors (doing who knows what) prior to a preseason game against the Chicago Bears and was sent home. Dez Bryant, left, says he cut his hands open cutting carrots, although it’s not considered serious. On Monday, Cleveland Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer had to leave his start in the ALCS after 2/3 of an inning after a cut opened on his hand — a cut that was blamed on repairing his drone.
It hasn’t been a great week for the Chicago Cubs. Well, this news isn’t going to make the Cubs (or Cubs fans) feel any better. For the first time in the entire 2016 season, the Cubs are no longer favored to win the World Series.
The preseason is always an interesting time for League of Legends. This time around, Riot Games is changing, well, just about everything. You can read about the full changes at Riot’s official League of Legends preseason page, but we’ll go ahead and break down what they mean right here.
