  • Teddy Bridgewater's Gruesome Injury Was Reportedly So Bad He Nearly Lost His Leg

Teddy Bridgewater suffered what sounded like an absolutely horrific leg injury in Vikings practice on Tuesday, and he’ll almost certainly be out for the entire season with a torn ACL and a dislocated knee. Source confirms tibiofemoral dislocation, ruptured ACL for Bridgewater. Tibiofemoral dislocation … basically, Bridgewater's femur (upper leg) went off the tibia (shin, lower leg.) Yeah.

  • Still ‘a hooper,’ Chris Bosh expects to be cleared to return to Heat for training camp

Chris Bosh watches from the bench as the Miami Heat take on the Charlotte Hornets during Game 4 of the 2016 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. With NBA teams’ training camps set to get underway in less than one month, Chris Bosh hit social media on Monday to show that, nearly eight months after pulling out of the 2016 NBA All-Star Game amid concerns related to another round of the frightening blood-clotting problems that have prematurely ended his last two seasons, he’s stepping up his workouts in what would seem to indicate continued interest in returning to the Miami Heat this season. “I know I’ve been gone for a moment, but now I’m back,” Bosh says.

  • No trade: Yasiel Puig is staying with the Dodgers. At least for now.

Yesterday it was reported that Yasiel Puig was claimed on waivers. But, as we know, waivers in August are revocable, meaning that just because a team claims a guy doesn’t mean they get him. And just because a waiver claim gives you a right to negotiate with the player’s team regarding a trade, doesn’t mean a trade will be made. That seems to be what has happened with Puig, Jon Heyman reports that the allotted time for the claiming team to negotiate a trade had expired so the Dodgers pulled him back. ESPN’s Jim Bowden has reported that the team that claimed Puig did so in order to block another team from claiming and then trading for Puig, which happens fairly often in these scenarios. Puig continues

  • Giant moth surprises Reds' Ivan De Jesus during at-bat

Baseball isn’t considered an outdoor sport like mountain biking, fishing or kayaking, but Cincinnati Reds infielder Iván De Jesús Jr. found out you can get plenty close to nature playing baseball, too. De Jesús was standing in the batter’s box Monday night ready to swing away when unbeknownst to him, a giant moth, roughly 1/3 of the size of the number on the back of De Jesús’ uniform, planted itself right in the middle of his back during his at-bat. The moth didn’t stay long, it was knocked off and flew away when De Jesús swung and missed, but the point was made. The batter’s box is no longer a safe place.

  • 'I Feel Bad For Whoever's Next'

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight contender Travis Browne has a warning for all the female bantamweights who think the path to the 135-pound title is free and clear while ex-champion Ronda Rousey is on temporary hiatus. "Hapa" told ESPN that "Rowdy" is suffering no lasting effects from her violent knockout loss to Holly Holm last November, and once she's ready to step back inside the Octagon -- somewhere toward the earlier part of next year -- the first person fed to the Olympic judoka will be toast. Including her own upset loss, the women's bantamweight title changed hands three times over the past 10 months. Holm coughed up the strap when Miesha Tate strangled her into submission at UFC 196, a similar fate for "Cupcake" when she ran into Amanda Nunes last July.

Dwight Howard takes in the fights. Dwight Howard hit a career-low 48.9 percent from the free throw line in 2015-16, a pretty significant millmilestone for someone who entered the league in 2004, and someone whose free throw work has been endlessly scrutinized for over a decade. Howard, then working for the Houston Rockets, was also a repeated target of the ‘Hack-a-Shaq’ defensive philosophy, fouled purposely throughout contests in order to send his sub-standard stroke to the charity stripe in hopes for a pair of clangs.
