Logan Tom Biography
A member of the U.S. program since 2000, the outside hitter will be making her fourth Olympic appearance - only the third player in U.S. volleyball history to do so - in hopes of adding to the silver medal she won in Beijing in 2008, when she also took best scorer honors. Tom is arguably the most versatile player on the U.S. squad, but her biggest asset is receiving. She appeared in the first six matches of the World Grand Prix as the United States went on to win its third straight title. She finished ninth in receiving at the 2011 World Cup with a 48.65 efficiency rate, committing four faults in 185 attempts as the United States secured a spot in London with a second-place finish. Tom also was a key contributor to the United States repeating as FIVB World Grand Prix champion last year, scoring 25 points in the final two matches. She was named best server at the 2011 NORCECA Championship as the United States won that title. In 2000, Tom was the youngest female player selected to the Olympic squad at 19 and helped the United States place fourth in Sydney. Tom also has enjoyed a lengthy club career, recently joining Brazilian club Unilever/SKY after winning the CEV Champions League title with Fenerbache Universal in Turkey. She has also played in Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Russia, Japan and China at the club level.
