Lindsey Berg Biography
Making her third Olympic appearance, Berg is the captain of the U.S. squad as she tries to add a second medal following her silver as co-captain in Beijing in 2008. Berg was a key early contributor to the U.S. winning its third straight World Grand Prix title, averaging 4.75 running sets in the first six matches. The Honolulu native and setter was named 2011 USA Volleyball Indoor Female Athlete of the Year - her second time winning the award - following a strong effort that included a runner-up finish at the World Cup to secure a berth for the U.S. in London. In Japan, Berg finished third among all setters with a 9.16 average and committed only four faults in 799 total attempts, posting 339 running sets for her team and finishing with 10.27 assists per set in 11 matches. Berg was also named Best Setter of the 2011 NORCECA Continental Championship and helped the U.S. win the gold medal in that tournament. Berg has been with Italian club Villa Cortese since 2009 and playing professionally in Italy since 2004.
