Athlete Profile

  • Holland crashed in the snowboardcross quarterfinals and finished a disappointing 14th in the 2006 Torino Games after earning the top spot on the team, so he'll be eager to do better in Vancouver after qualifying alongside Graham Watanabe, Seth Wescott and Nick Baumgartner. Holland, whose brother, Pat, didn't make the team, certainly has an impressive resume at the X Games, however, having won five gold medals and recently becoming the first Winter X Games athlete to win four straight golds in snowboardcross. Holland has also made more than 40 career World Cup starts. He finished first in January's event at Bad Gastien, Austria, topping famed French rider Pierre Vaultier. Holland was named the U.S Boardercrosser of the Year in 2004 by Ski Racing Magazine, and he’s known as an aggressive rider with a strong freestyle background, traits that suit him well for snowboardcross competition. He has competed in slopestyle and big air in the past, and is an avid wakeboarder during the summer. He should be well-prepared for Vancouver, considering he’ll be racing on the same hill where he won the 2008 Canadian Nationals.
