Fourth-Place Medal, a Yahoo! Sports blog covering the Olympics

Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh have repeated as gold medalists, the first beach volleyball team to do so. This is their 108th consecutive win. They won 21-18, 21-18 over Tian Jia and Wang Jie on a rain soaked day in Beijing. The win was not without difficulty, as China gave them their toughest test of the Olympics. The Chinese team employed bits of strategy that would make Bill Belichek smile. First, at set point in the first set, China called a timeout just before May was about to serve. Then, China's Wang Jie called for an injury timeout in the second set, giving her an extra few minutes when May and Walsh were on a roll. Still, it did not matter, as the Americans buckled down and won the gold.

Oh boy...here we go again....Congratulation Misty and Kerri. But I bet that before I finish typing that there an a&s Chinese who think they got more Gold and an a&s American that they think American are better. These athletes that are in the Olympic put their heart and soul so they could live their dream of being an Olympian. It does not matter what origin of country they are from, they all went there to compete play the game and try to bring home the medal.
Once again Congratulation Misty and Kerri and to Tian and Wang. Silver is not bad. You should be proud.

Looking at Kerrie Walsh during her match today, I couldn't help but notice the black tape on her back. It looked like the letter V.
    V for Volleyball....
    V for Victory....

Does it really matter what country the winning athlete is from?? If they won and they didn't cheat by doping, they should be recognized for their hard work and dedication. We are all humans.
Congrats Misty and Kerri, you ladies are so much fun to watch.

    A chess match. Amazing.
It was not even very was more brutal.
The China girls were tough, but it was prime athletic
expertise and precision by MM and KW which won another
Gold Medal for the USA. It was amazing. The sport takes
punches about the skimpy suits, but in the rain these
athletes battled, and the best won.
Even "medical timeouts" could only delay the inevtiabale.
MM and KW would won at any sport they play.
Sports are harder on a team, you must rely on another, and
tonight these ladies were perfect together, in bad conditions. This is not juts a fast swiimer in controled conditions...Thses were 2 ladies working sexy tonight, it as a team. The BEST TEAM ON THE PLANET. I would bet on them to excel at anything they do.
It was amazing. Thank you Misty and Kerri, I could tell you
were ON IT FOR THE USA tonight ....You are awesome, and you make you it fun.

Whoopie for them! Now thank god that is over, and maybe some other events will get attention. I appreciate the magnitude of their achievement, but on the other hand it is a somewhat marginal sport. The Nothing But Crap network nonetheless had to beat us over the head with their "story". BFD. And by the way, does any non-deviant care what happens to their white bikinis when they get wet?

of course it matters what country they are from, but i guess it would only matter to someone who is proud of being from their country. i'm sure during the 1980 winter olympics, you could have sat there and watched the us play the ussr in the 'miracle on ice' game and think "who cares who wins...both teams worked hard and didn't cheat".
there's nothing wrong with being proud for the team from your country.
