Athlete Profile
- Kuck earned a spot on the 2010 Olympic team by finishing third in the 10,000 meters at the 2009 U.S. Speedskating Championships in Salt Lake City. That final spot on the team pursuit opened up when Shani Davis announced he would not compete in the event at the Vancouver Games. Kuck will also replace Davis in the 10,000 meters after Davis backed out just before a Jan. 17 entry deadline to focus on shorter individual distances. Kuck is from the same hometown as Olympic speedskating hero Bonnie Blair. He placed second overall at the 2009 World Junior Speedskating Championships in Poland. Kuck didn’t start skating until 2004.
