Athlete Profile
- Daly earned international acclaim by finishing second in the European Cup in 2008-09. A little more than a year after ending that series, he’ll compete in his first Olympics. The 24-year-old finished the U.S. team trials in October as the top-ranked athlete and earned a spot on the World Cup team. However, he was replaced after four events in that series when he failed to finish higher than 11th. He rallied to earn his spot on the Olympic team by claiming first in six consecutive events. Daly, who began competing in skeleton in 2001, was an all-American decathlete for Plattsburgh State University in upstate New York in 2007. He also set school records in that event and the long jump before graduating with a degree in public relations and advertising that same year.
