  • At 2006 Olympics at Turin, Italy, finished 5th in downhill and 6th in giant slalom, DNF in super-G and slalom, and was disqualified in combined; at 2002 Olympics at Salt Lake City, won silver in giant slalom and combined; at 1998 Olympics at Nagano, Japan, DNF in slalom and giant slalom; has made over 355 World Cup starts, finishing on podium 68 times with 32 victories; has won season titles in 2003 (combined), 2004 (giant slalom, combined), 2005 (overall, super-G), 2007 (super-G) and 2008 (overall, combined); in World Championships, won gold in 2003 in giant slalom and combined, and took silver in super-G; won gold at 2005 worlds in super-G and downhill; on May 12, 2007, announced that he was leaving U.S. Ski Team to race as an independent, and after a successful 2008 season, failed to win a race for the first time in eight years in 2009; on Sept. 24, 2009, rejoined U.S. Ski Team and earned fourth trip to Olympics.
