Let's be honest, when did Americans even watch the Nordic events? This year, Yes! What about some of the other races, wow! After all that distance and then a photo finish. To hear the crowd cheer or groan at the hits and misses when shooting. My heart goes out to the absolutely strong woman who broke her 4 ribs and punctured her lung and still raced and finished 3rd! That's the Olympic spirit!!

It was the greatest, to see the Americans up front and not having to wait until the end of the race to see an American. I was pulling for Johnny Spliilane to help him win the Gold, but we both tired out! Still, it was great to see him win the first medal and Bill to take a Gold and Johnny the Silver in the same race. All did great!

Bill, I could not sleep after seeing each or your races this week. You truly raced inspired and made America proud. It is great to see an athlete that has truly dedicated himself to his team, sport, and country. I have followed your career since we used to compete against each other in H.S. cross country running. It has been an inspiration watching you develop and work through the highs and lows it takes to get to the olympics let alone win a gold medal. Enjoy this moment and the many more great moments that are ahead of you. Congratulations!

wow! that was amazing! I think it is so cool that the United States has finally won a gold medal connected to the Nordic world! Go Demong! I always hate that they never show any Nordic racing, but I understand that it is mostly because no one in the States likes to watch something "slow" unless medals are won. Which I think is dumb, but today we got a show and lots to cheer about. The last hill on where Demong broke for it was truly exciting, to see how much they had left in them. Also great job to Spillane for winning three silvers. You guys are inspiring for American Nordic everywhere!

Oh Randy Young, this world is so proud of you for being 8th grade math teacher. That's where Bill Demong must have learn necessary math to win Individual Large Hill/10 km CC - 10 km. I think he owes it to you big time!!

Bill Demong, I was absolutely inspired by your performance today. I found myself overwhelmed and overpowered by a force that yanked me from laying lifelessly on the couch to jumping around and screaming like a crazy maniac rooting for you. You represent what life is all about....digging deep inside yourself and performing whatever task it may be to the absolute best of your ability. I just want to say I enjoyed watching you today....WAY TO GO!
