Athlete Profile

  • A former in-line skater who moved to short track speedskating in 2000, Baver joins Anton Apolo Ohno as a three-time Olympian on the speedskating team.
  • Has successfully rehabilitated from a broken leg suffered in Sofia, Bulgaria, during the 2008-09 season and earned her first medal of the 2009 World Cup season with a silver in the 3,000-meter relay at Beijing.
  • Her best individual finish on the World Cup circuit this season was a B final victory in the 1,500 meters in Beijing in September.
  • Baver placed seventh in the 3,000-meter relay in the 2002 Olympics and despite a back injury, finished seventh in the 500 meters and fourth in the 3,000-meter relay in Turin at the 2006 Olympics.
  • Baver is the 2007 U.S. short track overall champion after winning the 500, 1,000 and 3,000-meter events and is the all-time leader among U.S. women for World Cup medals.
  • In 2008, she signed with the Wilhelmina Artist Management group to pursue a modeling career.
