Athlete Profile
- A three-time Olympic qualifier, de Jong won silver in the 10,000 meters at the 1998 Games in Nagano before winning gold with a personal best 13:01.57 at the 2006 Games in Turin. He competed, but did not medal, at the 2002 Games in Salt Lake City. He was a two-time World All-Around junior champion in 1995 and 1996. Heading into the 2009 season, de Jong had won 15 medals at worlds.
