Athlete Profile
- Takeuchi has lots of Olympic experience after competing in the women's parallel giant slalom at the 2002 and 2006 games. After finishing just 22nd in the PGS in Salt Lake City, she finished ninth in 2006, missing out on the quarterfinals by one-tenth of a second. Since 2006, she's finished second in four World Cup events, and Takeuchi finished third overall in the 2008-09 standings behind Germany's Amelie Kober and Austria's Doris Guenther - the same woman who beat her out in the 2006 Winter Olympics. Takeuchi's most recent win came in the 2007 Japanese national championships, but she finished an impressive fourth at the 2009 World Snowboard Championships in Gangwon, Korea, making a medal at the Vancouver Olympics a definite possibility.
