You kicked butt, Joannie! Way to rock the Olympics! :-)
still thinking about you and your mom- as i have several children, 3 your age, hope to hear what youre up to. you were amazing-
i am really sorry wat happend and i am doing a olimpic report on u
You have done well Joannie. All are very Proud of You. It's ashame that this ISU are putting the breaks on Your Tribute. Maybe if Corporate Sponsors would come along and along with Your Tribute have a scholarship program be made in Your Mother's name for young Skaters or something like that maybe they would change their minds. I know rules are rules but in your case and I wouldn't wish it on anyone but if someone in the future would have a situation come up that would need attention. We can only Hope and Pray that they could see how the Public Feels about this rule. Joannie, We ALL in Support of You, In You and With You and Your Family as well as Our Thoughts and Prayers.
Take Care,
John & Nancy,
Mishawaka, IN USA
It is so touching and refreshing to see this young lady following her heart and not being ruled by an organization. I applaud her decision and hope more people will come forward to show her support for
the important stand she is making. It should never be all about the ratings or the money but more focus on the principle.
I am familiar with the ISU and the USFSA. It's all about them!!! It's never about the skater. It's very political and I'm happy we're out of it. It's unfair, the judges have their favorites no matter what. Half the time their not even paying attention to what's going on in front of them.
So If you want to skate when and where you want Joannie then do it. You and you alone have the memories and the heart ache, not them. Listen to your heart, enjoy what you do and don't let any of them tell you, you can't do a tribute to your MOM. Do they realize you're in mourning, they're a cold bunch of no heart people. I say do what you want.
This issue is base on the greed of theISU. Follow your heart but remember your mother would not want you to jepordize your future for her memory. I'm sure she would be happier for you to be secure in your future. I do not like the greed in sports management so look out for yourself they will not. As a father of two I would prefer they "play ball" if I were to pass on. She gave a lot so you could get where you are at so don't throw it away with careful review. This is a life changing event and whatever you do will be with you the rest of your life.
"I have never met you before, but watching you perfomed at the olympics under such trying circumstances,i have never pulled so hard for anyone,i felt so pain and you are a role model for many.i lost a parent many years ago,a day has not pass that i don't think of my dad.your mom will live with you forever..all my love Robert...
I hope that you felt our prayers during your performance. I know Mothers everywhere were praying as was I. I believe that prayer all over the country gave you the strength to endure. I will continue to pray for you as you take time to grieve and shed the many tears that were held back. You are a very strong lady and this has made you strong for what God has in store for you. Be available and thank him, when you can, for the experience.
The United States was with you, God Bless you and your family.
Hi Joannie, I hope that you recieved our Coast Salish Blankets and know that we feel for you. The blankets are so special to my sister Debra Sparrow and I that, we wanted to "blanket" you with love and compassion in your time of loss! Please know that it comes from our "hearts" and we hope that they bring some kind of comfort knowing that they actually have alot of meaning behind them.
With Love ... Robyn Sparrow (Sparrow Sisters)

You are an inspiration ! Stay strong and you will go Far!! I'm so very sorry about your Mother, she is smiling down and so very proud of you. Congratulations! From the USA. ( :
My heart and prayers go out to you Joannie and you family. God will watch over you all. Always hold your mom dear in your heart , Never let mean and ugly words from people you don't know bother you. Your a strong and brave young women. Your mom raised you well. Hold your head high and be proud of yourself and your mother.
Congrats to Joannie on your metal, and overcoming such adveristy. But, is it me, or did you give every interview, attend every party and stay at the Olymipcs as long as you could to 1) keep your name in lights and 2) totally disrepect your mother in the process. I understand competing, but the rest is unnecessary, and you've come off like a self serving 'all about me' girl.
You are are true hero!!! No matter what anyone else may say what you did by going on and skating was unbelievably admirable!! As much as I was rooting on the Americans to medal, I was also rooting on you and you deserved your medal no matter what anyone may say as to you only getting it because of what you went through. That medal is yours and I hope you will always wear it with pride knowing that your Mother helped you earn it. (I know you will!!!) My mother is my best friend and I have always thought that I could never go on without her, but you have shown me that it is possible because although she may not always physically be with me, she will always be watching over me and will be FOREVER in my heart. And I believe that your Mother would have wanted nothing else but for you to go on and skate and I know, medal or not, that she is very proud of the person you are!!! Thank you again for your inspiration!!! Please continue to live your life as wonderful and genuine of a person as you have shown to be throughout these past days!! You are a true role model and I hope you will continue to be for many years to come!
Ok let wait till up coming 2010 world championship and see if she's for real. LOL
