Sanya Richards-Ross Biography

Richards-Ross has already established herself as one of the fastest women in the world, and she will be looking to add to her impressive resume in London. The six-time USA outdoor 400-meter champion will look to bring home her first Olympic gold in the event after winning bronze in the 2008 Beijing Games. After getting off to a scorching start in 2012 by setting world-leading times in the 200 and 400, Richards-Ross looks determined to make a big impact at these Games. She first showed her potential at the University of Texas, where in 2003 she was the NCAA outdoor 400 champion, won the 4x400 indoor NCAA championship, and the Big 12 indoor 60 and 200 championships. She qualified for her first Olympic Games the next year and was a part of the 4x400 relay team that took home the gold in Athens. In Beijing, she was the anchor on the 4x400 team that won gold as well. Richards-Ross was awarded the Jesse Owens Award, along with being named the IAAF World Athlete of the Year in 2006 and 2009. She is married to her college sweetheart, Aaron Ross, who won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants.
