Sally Pearson Biography
Pearson enters the London Games as the favorite to win the 100-meter hurdles. She ran the fastest time of the year in that event - 12.49 seconds - at the Australian Olympic trials and also took gold in the 60-meter hurdles at the 2012 world indoor championships. At the 2011 world championships, she won gold in the 100 hurdles with a time of 12.28, fourth fastest in history and the best mark since 1992. Also in 2011, she became the first Australian to be named named the International Association of Athletics Federations’ female athlete of the year. As a 21-year-old at the 2004 Olympics, Pearson took the silver in the 100 hurdles, edging out Canada’s Priscilla Lopes-Schliep. Pearson and Lopes-Schliep both finished with times of 12.64, but upon photo review Pearson was awarded the silver.
