Highlights Kepka, a 2002 Olympian, has been a member of the U.S. Speedskating Short Track World Team every year since 2002. He finished eighth overall at the 2005 World Championships and started the 2005-2006 World Cup season with a seventh place ranking after the first two World Cups. Kepka has proven to be a key component to the U.S. men’s relay team at World Cup competitions. In the 2004-2005 World Cup season, Kepka helped lead his team to a silver and bronze medal victory in China and Italy respectively. During the 2005 World Cup 4, Kepka won a gold medal in the 1000 meters, a bronze in the 500 meters and was a member of the winning relay team.
Update
On the home front, Kepka is one of the country’s strongest skaters, having placed second in the 2005 U.S. Short Track Championships. He considers making the 2002 Olympic Team to be his greatest accomplishment because “it has been a dream of mine pretty much since I began skating. Now I want to medal.”
Personal
His hobbies include fly-fishing up in the mountains of Colorado and anything else to do with the outdoors. Future plans for Kepka include completing his college education and becoming a veterinarian.
