Profile

Alex Izykowski is making his Olympic debut at the 2006 Torino Games. The Michigan native started speedskating in 1995. In 2002 he was third overall at the 2002 U.S. Junior Short Track Championships. In 2003, Izykowski finished eighth overall at Junior Worlds.

Izykowski was part of the bronze-medal winning relay team at the 2005 World Championships (China).

Izykowski cites his entire family as being his strongest influence, "from my parents to my grandmother and all of my aunts, uncles and cousins." He enjoys fly fishing in beautiful Colorado and his future plans are to finish schooling "and life after that is still to be determined."
