Andy Murray Biography

Established as one of the world’s top four tennis players, Andy Murray will be hopeful of medalling at the London Games. Despite a career that has coincided with three tennis players who look set to go down amongst the all-time greats (Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic,) Murray has won 22 career titles and by the end of the 2011 season had reached three career Grand Slam finals. A highly successful 2011 saw Murray become only the seventh tennis player in history to reach the last four of all the slams in a calendar year. A first round exit at the Beijing Olympics ranks as a career disappointment for Murray, and while the Games usually rate below the Grand Slams in tennis pecking order, a home Olympics with the tennis event held at Wimbledon is likely to inspire the world’s leading players. Murray will be hopeful of reaching at least the semi-finals, but his three main rivals in the world’s elite are likely to provide strong competition for gold.
