Leisel Jones Biography

Regarded as one of the greatest breaststrokers ever, Jones made a stunning Olympic debut in 2000, winning the silver medal in the 100m at the age of 15 as well as a silver as a member of Australia's 4x100 medley relay team. In the 2004 Games, she set an Olympic record in the semifinals of the 100m breast, but settled for bronze after a poor start in the final. Jones took home another silver in the 200m breast in Athens and won her first Olympic gold in the 4x100 medley relay. Three more medals followed in the 2008 Olympics, including her long-sought individual gold in the 100m breast, another in the 4x100 medley relay and a silver in the 200m breast. Jones will become the first Australian swimmer to compete at four Olympics in London.
