Conor Dwyer Biography

Dwyer will make his Olympic debut after finishing second to Peter Vanderkaay in the 400-meter freestyle at the trials. He came in fourth in the 200m free, meaning he will team with Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte and Ricky Berens to form the 800m free relay team in London. Dwyer capped the trials with a third-place finish in the 200m individual medley behind Phelps and Lochte. Dwyer won the 200 and 400m individual medleys at the 2011 national championships and earned a bronze in the 200 free at the Junior Nationals. At the 2011 worlds, Dwyer swam in the heats of the 800 free relay and earned gold when the United States won the final. After swimming for the University of Iowa, Dwyer moved to the University of Florida - where he trains with Lochte. In 2010, he was elected NCAA Swimmer of the Year after winning individual titles in the 200 and 500 yard free. His mother, Jeanne, was an All-American swimmer at Florida State.
