Caryn Davies Biography

Davies will participate in her third Olympics as the Americans go for their second straight gold in the eight. She is one of the six returning members of that boat that was named world rowing female crew of the year in 2008. Davies, who also won a silver in the eights at the 2004 Athens Games, helped the U.S. set a world record (5:54.17) in that event earlier this year after the Americans won their sixth consecutive world championship in 2011. Davies was not part of that crew, instead finishing eighth in the pair. The Harvard graduate, who started rowing in 1996, won gold in the eights at the 2006 (world record) and 2007 worlds, with the 2006 event taking place at Eton Gorney - the site of these Games. Davies also finished first in the four at the 2003 worlds and first in the eights in 2002. Davies, who will complete her J.D. next year from Columbia Law School, operates a sports psychology consulting business in Boston.
