Alexander Shatilov Biography
Shatilov will participate in his second Olympics this summer after finishing eighth in the floor exercise (14.125) and 29th in the all-around competition in Beijing. He qualified for London after tying for third place on the floor at the 2011 world championships, with he and Brazil's Diego Hypolito each getting a bronze medal. Shatilov also took 13th in the all-around at that meet. He became Israel’s first gymnast to win a world championship medal in 2009 in London, where he took bronze on the floor and finished 11th in the all-around competition. Shatilov barely missed medaling in his signature event at 2010 worlds, but he reached the podium in the floor exercise at the European Championships in 2009 (bronze) and 2011 (silver).
