Christina Loukas Biography
The daughter of the owner of Chicago's Cubby Bear Lounge and multiple rooftop buildings near Wrigley Field, perhaps Loukas could teach the star-crossed Cubs a thing or two about winning championships. She's won nine national titles, including two in the individual 3m springboard - her event in London. She qualified for her second Olympics by placing second with a total of 1017.85 points at the U.S. trials in June. Loukas also participated in the 3m springboard at the 2008 Beijing Games, finishing ninth. She may be poised for a better outcome in London, as she has not finished as low as ninth in any major international competition since Beijing. Most recently, she took third place in the USA Diving Grand Prix. Loukas enjoyed a spectacular college career at Indiana, earning Big Ten diver of the year honors all four years she was in school (2005-09), and getting named NCAA diver of the year in 2009, when she won the NCAA 3m springboard title with a record-setting performance.
