Athlete Profile

  • Finished second in the 800m freestyle at the 2008 Olympic trials, earning a trip to Beijing. Ziegler touched in 8:25.38, almost five seconds behind winner Katie Hoff and well off her personal best of 8:18.52.
  • Ziegler came in second in the 400m freestyle at the trials, also behind Hoff.
  • Broke the longest-standing swimming world record when she shattered Janet Evans' mark in the 1500m freestyle in June 2007.
  • Won World Championship gold in the 800 and 1500m freestyle in 2007.
  • Double gold medalist in the 800m and 1500m free at the 2006 Pan Pacifics and 2005 World Championships.
