- Headed to her record fifth Olympics at 41, making her the oldest American ever to swim at the Summer Games.
- After taking several years off, giving birth two years ago and undergoing two surgeries within the past eight months, Torres earned a trip to Beijing by beating swimmers nearly half her age in the 100m freestyle at the Olympic trials before setting an American record in the 50m free.
