- Along with her skipper Marcelien de Koning, was nominated for the prestigious Rolex World Sailor of the Year award in 2007. Only four female boats were nominated for the prize.
- She and de Koning won their third consecutive world championship in the 470 class last year, taking the title in Cascais, Portugal, after winning in Rizhao, China, in 2006 and San Francisco in 2005.
- The duo finished fourth at the world championships in Melbourne, Australia, this January.
- Other first-place finishes for the boat include consecutive Princess Sofia Trophy championships in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, in 2007 and 2008 and the Rolex Miami Olympic Classes Regatta title in 2007.
- Began sailing at 8 years old in Hoorn, the Netherlands, about 25 miles north of Amsterdam.
- Her boat - nicknamed Xpedition Beemsterlite due to a sponsorship by a Dutch cheese manufacturer - is currently ranked eighth in the world after holding the No. 1 ranking for parts of 2007.
