- In his Olympic debut in 2004, won a bronze medal in the 1,000-meter flatwater solo canoe race in Athens, surprising competitors who hadn't seen him in previous international competitions.
- Followed up his performance there with another bronze at the 2006 World Championships in his hometown of Szeged, Hungary.
- Is coming off his first gold at the World Championships, after he won in Duisburg, Germany, in 2007.
- Finished 2007 in a tie for sixth in the overall flatwater World Cup rankings, regardless of distance - the same spot where he finished the 2006 year.
- Also has had success in a two-man boat, winning the 2000 European Junior Championship in the 1,000-meter race with countryman Marton Joob.
