- Won gold medal in the vault at the 2000 Sydney Games with a score of 9.712.
- Repeated the feat at the 2004 Athens Games, scoring 9.737 in the vault. He is responsible for the only two Olympic gold medals won by Spain in artistic gymnastics.
- Has also twice won silver medals in floor exercise at the World Championships, in 1999 at Tianjin, China and in 2007 at Stuttgart, Germany.
- Originally won the silver in floor exercise at the 2002 World Championships, but got stripped of his medal after testing positive for marijuana.
