  • Born Oct. 27, 1987.
  • Was just 16 when he appeared in all seven games for the eighth-place Chinese team at the 2004 Olympics, averaging 2.7 points and 3.3 rebounds.
  • Now being counted on to play a much bigger role alongside 7-foot-6 Yao Ming.
  • The 6-foot-11 Yi is coming off an uneven first season in the NBA after being the sixth overall pick in the draft, averaging 8.6 points and 5.2 rebounds.
  • Missed much of the final six weeks of the season with various injuries, but is expected to be fully recovered well before the Beijing Games begin.
