  • Got involved in gymnastics at age 4 in 1992, and began competing internationally in 2003.
  • Best event is the vault, in which she has a signature move named after her. Dubbed the "Cheng Fei Maneuver," it combines a 180-degree back flip with a 540-degree forward flip.
  • Cheng is the three-time reigning world champion in the vault. She scored 15.937 to win gold at the 2007 World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany, 15.712 to take home gold at the 2006 World Championships at Aarhus, Denmark, and also won the gold in the vault at the 2005 Worlds in Melbourne, Australia.
  • Also won gold in floor exercise at the 2006 World Championships, but fell to fifth in that event at Stuttgart.
  • Competed in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, where she placed fourth in floor exercise and was a member of the Chinese women's team which placed seventh.
  • Also competes in the balance beam, where she won gold in December at the Good Luck Beijing Artistic Gymnastics International Invitational.
