In the Pairs Men rowing final, Australia captured gold to secure their third rowing medal, followed by Canada's silver and New Zealand's bronze (New Zealand and England also have three rowing medals). Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss of Team USA placed 6th out of 6 with a time of 7:05.
The story of the twin Winklevoss brothers (pictured above) is an interesting one. Both went to Harvard together where they continued padding the foundation to row their way to Beijing. Along the way, they started up a social networking site which eventually led to a high profile lawsuit with owner-creator of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg.
While in college, the Winklevoss brothers and a third Harvard friend, Divya Narendra, started a site now known as ConnectU.com and asked Zuckerberg for assistance in building the site. They said they had an oral agreement with Zuckerberg that he never lived up to. Months later, in early 2004, Zuckerberg started Facebook.com, which has evolved into the most popular social network site in the world.
The brothers contend Zuckerberg stole their idea, and sued him. Their lawsuit created a buzz in Silicon Valley before a February settlement reportedly involved an undisclosed sum of cash and stock. In late June, a federal judge rejected an attempt by the Winklevosses to reopen the case. Cameron Winklevoss said that he does not see this as the end but that the brothers can't talk about details. Zuckerberg is believed to be worth in excess of $1 billion, while ConnectU is a small player in the online world of social networking.
For their sake, I hope the brothers Winklevoss win their follow-up attempt. Capitalism screams "USA" much more than a 6th place finish. Something tells me they'll be okay regardless of the outcome, though.

these guys were not the favorite, but they didn't even make it out of the prelims on Day 1. they had to race again to try to advance to the semis (which they did). they were reallly a longshot to medal so the 6th is better than it sounds. I'm sure they would have liked to do better (they were 3rd or 4th seed in the final) but I didn't expect them to make the final after seeing how they did in the prelim.
of course being 6'5" doesn't hurt if you're going to try to compete in 'heavyweight' class
