Kobe is king of basketball under pressure. Spain were lucky on most of the shots they made that they don't normally make and they played their best game. Still lost to Team USA. That's tell you how good Team USA is.
    Basbetball belongs to USA. Period.

Congratulations to China for topping the Olympics in the gold medal count. This Olympics is the worst for the US.
US athletes should learn that inflated egos will not get them gold medals. China and other countries have shown the world that they can beat the US to its own game.

It would have been a humiliation if the US didn't win the basketball crown. The career of Kobe Bryant and the rest of the NBA stars were at stake.

Spain can not repeat today performance (made shots that they typically don't make). USA can beat Spain any time any day of the year. Team USA is too talent to lose. Every team has bad game. Team USA didn't play their best defensively. Offensively, can't ask for more from them.

Jonah_mh you have a sick mind-set. You should go back to China and live there... You do not have a healthy sportsmanship... Actually China won most gold medals from unpopular sports in USA..

This is the talented USA team that was formed some 3 years ago! When some of your big guns went silent another gun went boom and got the team the gold. This also shows that Kobe is a clutch shooter, when the game is on the line, he made the important shots that bailed the team out. Of course, he did not do it alone, all of them deserved the gold.

I am very proud of the Redeem Team. I will never forget the disappointment I felt in the 2004 Olympics when Argentina won the Gold. NOW!....I can rejoyce.........USA now knows what must be done to stay on top. The GOLD MEDAL in basketball belongs in the United States.

Redeem Team USA, Congrats!!! The truth is, that awesome game isn't KB's best game performance, that is due to the fact that most of the referee awarded him to many unjustified unreasonable foul calls, and that keeps him from cooling down. Otherwise, we could all had enjoyed more seeing KB fly towards the basket...

    # 10. Since when did boxing, diving and swimming become unpopular? ,Hahaha, you're such an idiot. You are so sore that the US is just poor second in the gold medal standing.
Well, guess what, the Chinese were stronger.
    Poor USA.

I agree Julie. Pau has had a long year of being the runner up. With Andrew Bynum back he won't have to play Center for the Lakers and will be dynomite. Go LAKERS!

I just one to make one comment! Everybody knows that the Olympics count medals the country that is supposed to be number one is the one with more first places (that mean Gold) and in a very hypocrite way Yahoo Sports put USA (36 gold) above China (51 gold) only because USA had more 3rd places that a shame for USA.

I agree that yahoo sports should place China above USA as the number one country base on gold tally because this has been the system used for the past Olympic. Why change the system now to total medal tallies? Is it because of USA losses" to China? You just show the world that USA is a sore loser.

You are a moron to even think that way. Count how many medals the US got in some of those "unpopular" sports. You prima donnas are only a minority and contiue to make all US look bad.

What counts is how the rest of the world gauge things, not how the US wants to view it. Obviously in the US here, we may look at it differently, that is fine. I don't really have a problem what order things are put. Games are finally over, all the countries did well. The world should look ahead to 2012 and just remember the fine performances seen by all. Other than the unfortunate loss of life in the senseless act of a deranged person on day 2, everything else went well. What many americans do not know (as I don't expect them to know) and NBC did not publicize it was that you could hear all the chinese in streets vocally encouraging the athletes from other countries during the marathons and even in the indoor event. All things considered, well done China, they've been a great host.

Good article. The world should proud as many smaller nations won medals for the first time at the Olympics. 40 medals for Africa! That is awesome.
