After her performance at the 2007 World Championships at Stuttgart, Germany, Johnson is the odds-on favorite to take home the women's all-around gold medal in Beijing.
She had won the all-around title in each event where she competed since moving to the senior level at the start of 2007, until her second-place finish at the 2008 Tyson American Cup in New York.
Helped the US win the team title at the Worlds as well as in two other international competitions during 2007.
She also won four international competitions at the junior level in 2005-06.
A student at Valley High School in West Des Moines, she lists English as her favorite subject and has had three short stories published.
