Athlete Profile

  • 2000 Olympic 400m hurdles and 4x400m relay gold medalist; 2007 World Outdoor 400m bronze medalist and 4x400m gold medalist; 2000 IAAF Grand Prix Overall and GP Final champion; 2000 Jesse Owens Award winner; 2001 and 1999 World Champs gold medalist in 4x400m relay; three-time U.S. champ (99-01); two-time US Outdoor 400m champion; 1999 U.S. Indoor 400m champion; 1998 NCAA 400H champ.
  • Has become the world's third-ranked competitor in the 400m after winning the World Outdoor Championships bronze medal in the 400 meters in 2007. Finished his 2007 season ranked sixth in the world in the 400m hurdles following wins at Mt. SAC, Monaco, Hengelo and Dakar.
  • One of America's stars in the 400m hurdles in 2000, Taylor won Olympic gold just four years after graduating from high school. He has won five U.S. Outdoor championships between the 400m and the 400m hurdles.
  • After winning the 2001 U.S. title, split his time between the 400m and 400m hurdles before making his second Olympic Team with a runner-up finish at the 2004 Olympic Trials.
  • Taylor has the fastest time by a 19-year-old in the 400H. If he had been born two days later, his 47.90 at the 1998 USA Championships would have been a world junior record.
  • Was named collegiate athlete of the year in 1998.
  • Taylor says his early success tells him one thing: "If I want to work hard, I have a bright future. I can't slack off. Hopefully, I can do some bigger and better things."
