- Has been competing internationally since 2002, but burst onto the scene in the 2006 World Championships at Aarhus, Denmark, where she won gold in the women's all-around competition and bronze in the floor exercise and uneven bars. The all-around gold medal was the first at the World Championships ever for an Italian woman. She also finished sixth in the balance beam, and competed for the Italian women's team which placed ninth.
- Ferrari was hampered by a injured left foot - later revealed to be broken - at the 2007 World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany, but still managed to win bronze in the all-around and qualify for Beijing.
- Had one of her best performances at the 2007 World Cup event in Paris, where she placed first in balance beam, floor exercise and uneven bars.
- She was a member of the Italian women's team that placed first in the 2006 European championships.
- Her competitive spirit has given Ferrari the nickname "the cannibal."
