- Beijing is expected to be the final major international competition for Tweddle, who has become one of the most successful British gymnasts during her decade-long career.
- She started training at age 7, and first competed internationally in 1998, when she was 13.
- The highlight of Tweddle's career came at the 2006 World Championships in Aarhus, Denmark, where she won gold on the uneven bars. She has also won bronze at Worlds on the uneven bars twice, in 2003 at Anaheim, Calif., and 2005 at Melbourne, Australia.
- Tweddle has won the last seven women's all-around titles at the British championships.
- Competed in the 2004 Athens Games, where she finished 19th all-around and helped the British women's team place 11th.
- Aside from the uneven bars her strongest event is floor exercise, in which she placed fourth in the 2006 World Championships, and won a World Cup series event at Glasgow, Scotland in 2005.
