- Only Chinese boxer ever to win an Olympic medal, having claimed bronze in 2004.
- Considered the best amateur boxer in the history of China and is clearly the country's best chance to win a boxing gold medal for the first time.
- Proved his 2005 world championship was far more than just a result of that event being held in his home country by defending the title in Chicago in 2007.
