- Was selected for the Australian Olympic team at 14 years of age, qualifying in the 100m breaststroke at the Australian Championships.
- Won two silver medals at the 2000 Olympics, one in the 100m breaststroke and the other as a member of the 4x100 medley relay team.
- Captured gold as a member of Australia's 4x100 medley relay team at the 2004 Athens Games.
- Won a silver medal in Athens in the 200m breaststroke, finishing behind American Amanda Beard, and also took home a bronze in the 100m breaststroke.
- Is the current women's world record holder in the 100m and 200m breast.
- Won gold in the 100m and 200m breast and silver in the 50m breast at the 2007 World Championships in Melbourne. She also won gold in the 4x100 medley relay.
- Completed a clean sweep of the breast events at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, the only time it has been achieved in the breast events in the history of the Games. Set a world record with the 4x100 medley relay team at those Games.
