Welcome back, Alex Ovechkin.

Ovechkin scored one goal and looked pretty good—although a bit rusty at times—in his first game back from an upper-body (translation: shoulder) injury. He was out for six games, but he certainly helped the Caps in Tuesday's 4-2 victory against the Rangers.

The Caps were fortunate to get a lot of offensive help during Ovechkin's absence, and that's going to pay off for the rest of the season, starting Friday with the Canadiens.

Sometimes, the team seems to lean too much on Ovechkin, and coach Bruce Boudreau called out the players after the first game the star missed, saying everyone needed to step up.

They did just that, and it's why Ovechkin's return helps even more.

Goalie Jose Theodore has left the Capitals to travel back to Washington for personal reasons. To replace him, the team recalled Michal Neuvirth (NOY-vihrt) from the Hershey Bears of the AHL to be the backup to goalie Semyon Varlamov against the New York Rangers on Tuesday night. The Capitals expect Theodore to be away only for one day.
