    After a 10-year pro career, Ryan O’Byrne is going back to school

    Ryan O’Byrne’s professional hockey career has officially come to an end. The 32-year-old made the announcement via his Twitter account earlier today. O’Byrne’s professional career lasted a total of 10 years. In the NHL, he played for the Montreal Canadiens, Colorado Avalanche and Toronto Maple Leafs. He also played for the Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL), Florida Everblades (ECHL), Prague Lev (KHL), Ambri-Piotta (Swiss-A) and HV71 Jonkoping. In 308 NHL games, O’Byrne had five goals, 39 points and 369 penalty minutes.     Maple Leafs lock up RFA Josh Leivo for two years

    It sounds like the Toronto Maple Leafs will give Josh Leivo every opportunity to stick with the big club in 2016-17. The team announced that they signed Leivo to a two-year deal. The real news here is that Leivo reportedly scored a one-way deal, according to CapFriendly. The contract will pay Leivo $575,000 next year and $650,000 the following year. Of course, the Leafs will have no problem paying him that money in the minors if he doesn’t stand out in training camp. Toronto drafted Leivo in the third round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
