It didn't take long for the Lightning to look for help with their young group of defensemen.

Almost as soon as Tampa Bay landed back in town from its trip to Prague, Czech Republic, on Oct. 6, vice president of hockey operations Brian Lawton pulled the trigger on a deal that had been discussed internally for some time. Defenseman Lukas Krajicek was acquired from Vancouver along with minor league forward Juraj Simek in exchange for defenseman Shane O'Brien and right wing Michel Ouellet.
