Adam Hall, who went to Michigan State and played at Detroit's Joe Louis Arena with the Spartans, scored the second goal of the contest for the Penguins. With 5:19 remaining in the first period, Hall muscled past Johan Franzen and skated out of the corner before closing in on G Chris Osgood. The netminder made the initial save and, as Kronwall was poised to clear the puck behind the net, the Swede's attempt deflected off Hall's skate and into the net. ... D Rob Scuderi helped his team with his own blood when Jiri Hudler accidentally high-sticked him and received a four-minute penalty, leading to the winning goal in the third overtime. "I was just praying for blood," Scuderi said. ... All-Star D Sergei Gonchar got an assist on the winning goal. Fellow defenseman Hal Gill said of Gonchar, who mostly sat on the bench for the third period and overtime: "Sitting there, I don't think, was that hard. But he wanted to just be a part of the team." st 06-03-08 3:14 et |
