Sooner or later—and many believe it will be sooner—Flyers coach John Stevens will start feeling the heat of the Flyers' inconsistent play.

After posting an 8-2-1 record in October, the Flyers finished November with a 1-0 loss in Atlanta, giving them a 4-7-1 record in the month. They have lost five of their last six games and have been outscored 20-12 in that span, falling from sixth in the conference to ninth.

"We're playing well enough to keep it close, but we're not getting it to the finish line," Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger said. "(Saturday) we had too many passengers. We need everyone on the same page for 60 minutes for us to win. Right now, that is costing us games.

Johan Hedberg finally knows what it feels like to beat Philadelphia as a member of the Atlanta Thrashers. "It's a big mental break," he said. "They've had our number since I've been here." Hedberg made 34 saves for his first shutout in two years and the Thrashers stopped a 14-game losing streak against Philadelphia with a 1-0 victory Saturday night.

NHL suspends Sabres' Kaleta 2 games for boarding (AP)

Buffalo Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta was suspended for two games by the NHL on Saturday, a day after his hit on Philadelphia Flyers forward Jared Ross. Kaleta was assessed a major penalty for boarding in Buffalo's 4-2 victory. Ross didn't return to the game. Kaleta will miss Buffalo's game against Carolina on Saturday and Toronto on Monday.

Tim Connolly and a little desperation helped the Buffalo Sabres snap a four-game losing streak. Connolly scored twice in the third period and added two assists to help the Sabres defeat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-2 Friday afternoon. Drew Stafford, who also had an assist, and Paul Gaustad scored goals for the Sabres, who hadn't won since defeating the Flyers on the road 3-2 on Nov.

The NHL has suspended Philadelphia Flyers forward Daniel Briere two games for a late hit on Colorado Avalanche defenseman Scott Hannan. The league announced the discipline Tuesday. The incident occurred at 9:06 of the second period Monday night, right after Hannan had scored. Briere will miss games Wednesday against the New York Islanders and Friday at Buffalo.

Heatley scored three times, Joe Thornton recorded his 600th NHL assist, and the San Jose Sharks beat the Philadelphia Flyers 6-3 on Friday night. "When you have a chance to play with guys on a line like that it's just fun," Heatley said.
